2012 Dodge Durango SXT vs. 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe LS

2012 Dodge DurangoDrivers in Medicine Hat at the surrounding areas have fallen in love with the 2012 Dodge Durango, and the reasons why will become readily apparent once you’ve spent some time behind the wheel. It offers the kind of nimble handling that you wouldn’t expect from such a large vehicle, all while offering the conventional trappings of a crossover: comfort, versatility, and power. That being said, there are other SUVs available, and some Canadians might find themselves considering competitors like the 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe. So how do the two vehicles stack up?

The New Durango is a Great Value

The 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe will serve you well, but we think that drivers in Medicine Hat and everywhere else will find more to love in the 2012 Dodge Durango. The capabilities of these vehicles, after all, are very similar – but Dodge’s crossover will save you a great deal of money.

The savings, of course, start with the sticker price. The new Durango boasts a base MSRP of $38,195, while the 2012 Tahoe is much more expensive with its base MSRP of $49,745 – that’s over $10,000 in savings! The 2012 Durango’s value extends to the gasp pump, producing 13L/100 km in the city and 8.8L/100 km on the highway; Chevy’s SUV again falls short, being capable of 14.4L/100 km in the city and 9.5L/100 km on the highway.

While the Tahoe produces more horsepower and torque than the Durango, that doesn’t translate to increased capability: Dodge’s SUV has a maximum towing capacity of 2,812 kg, while the Chevy tops out at 2,359 kg. That the Dodge has less power on paper and can do more really is a symbol of this comparison as a whole ? simply put, the Durango is a better value, and an extremely capable crossover SUV that’s sure to please a variety of drivers.
